Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks Review

Characters: As you know the character voices are exactly the same as the 80's series which is a big reason why I like the new show. As for the character designs I am still getting used to them. I think the Chipette designs look great with the Chipmunks looking ok. Out of all the Chipmunks Theodore needs the most work and they could have done a little better job. I don't mind that Theodore has brown eyes while in the 80's series he had green. All the Chipmunks and Chipettes act exactly like the 80's series but I think as the series goes on there will be more character growth then there was in the 80's series. The Characters are a blend of the CGI movies and the 80's series cartoon. Everyone has been saying they look too much like humans but in the 80's series they looked way more like humans being the size of actual children with no tail. I think the blend is perfect. In terms of Characters the 80's series wins by just a little bit.

Animation: The backgrounds are absoultly amazing in the new show and I know a lot of you 80's series fans will only like the 2D cartoon animation which is totally understandable. I pretty much laid out the animation of the characters so I won't go into more detail about that. As for all the other charcters in the show I have no problem with the way they look but there could have been more animated characters. What I mean is they use the same women, men and kids faces but change there hair, eye color plus clothing. In the 80's series there were some mistakes in terms of colouring but for its time it was very good. So far in the new series there have been a couple of minor glitches in terms of the animation but it is 99% flawless in my opionion. In terms of animation Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks series wins.

The Music: I love that the new series is doing original songs and not cover songs. The new songs out today are mostly not very good. I sort of like Uptown Funk but lets get back to the series. In the Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks series I like a lot of the original songs during season 1 including Gonna Get You, Got To Be Free, The Weekend and Everybody Needs A Hero. All the original songs have been very good but nothing will ever beat the 80's series cover songs like Beat It, Vacation, You Keep Me Hangin' On and Hit me With Your Best Shot. This is my own bias but as you know I love 80's music. In terms of background music I have no problems with both the 80's series and Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks series. The sound effects are better in the Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks series. In terms of music the 80's series is the winner.

The Show: The Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks plots are pretty much exactly like the 80's series but of course with todays issues and technology. In terms of the other cartoons out right now it is by far the best and probably the best TV cartoon show for a family to watch since the late 90's. Now I know there are fart jokes in it but if you take all the other cartoons out right now geared to 6 to 12 year olds this show is very tame and has life lessons in it which is a homage to the 80's series. Now there is one big thing that I hope changes with the show as we continue. There are almost no live performances. In the 80's series you had them at least performing about every 3 to 6 episodes somewhere. In the Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks series they have not left their home town yet and as we continue I'm pretty sure it will not change. I have a feeling it is to due with animation budget and that is why every episode is geared around there home town. Alvin's Wild Weekend at least tried to get out of their home town. Hopefully we get to see the Chipmunks have more killer performances and even have the Chipettes in action. Rock n' Roll Lover was great but I am still craving more. In terms of the show the 80's series wins but not by a lot.
